Community Building and Organizing

At NHSSV, we define Community Building and Organizing (CB&O) as continuous, self-renewing efforts; led by community residents; engaged in collective action; aimed at relationship building, problem solving, and building a stronger community.

NHSSV’s CB&O programs support neighborhood groups to build healthy communities by developing resident leadership, strengthening resident-led associations, and sponsoring community building activities that enhance relationships among neighbors and spur organizing efforts leading to positive community change.

Since 2000, NHSSV CB&O Leadership has:

Hosted 12,962 Volunteer Service Hours

Rehabilitated 81 Homes

Educated 6,600 Residents about HomeBuyer Education, Froeclosure Prevention & Preadatory Lending Awareness

Trained 223 Neighborhood Leaders in Community Building & Organizing
